"Twelfth Night" is the second installment in the Wendover House Cozy Mystery Series.

Tess has settled into her new home on Little Goose Island only to discover the house has another resident, a troubled ghost whose shocking past has been so deeply buried that she doesn't even have a name. Compelled by compassion and horror, Tess sets out to discover the spirit's identity. Dismayed at her discovery of an old murder, she gathers the descendants of those who were part of the dead woman's life-- and death. It's a Twelfth Night party that no one will forget.

Twelfth Night Wendover House Cozy Mysteries Book 2 eBook Melanie Jackson

"Twelfth Night" is the second book in the Wendover House Mystery Series and it continues on where "The Secret Staircase" left off. In the first book, Tess MacKay inherits a mansion on a small island in Maine and visits it to look it over. She is the last in a long line of Wendovers, and she finds that curses, smuggling and ghosts come with her inheritance. In "Twelfth Night", Tess is living in the mansion and learning more about the family's past. She is being disrupted each night by a long-lost relative - a dead one - and hosts a Twelfth Night party to share ghost stories with her new neighbors and old friends. Her goal is to find some way to help her poor dead relative find peace.

The book is full of wonderful ghost stories that Tess' friends share as well as Tess' ghost story. You feel as if you are sitting at the table with them, sharing scary stories of the past. Ms. Jackson's writing is so smooth and delicious, just reading how she puts together sentence after sentence is delightful. And her storytelling is flawless. If you love a good mystery story that is reminiscent of Agatha Christie's books, then you will enjoy this series of books. "Twelfth Night" leaves us hanging, so I'm happy to see there will be a third book - can't wait to read it.

Twelfth Night Wendover House Cozy Mysteries Book 2 eBook Melanie Jackson Reviews

Dwelt a little too much on the super natural for my taste. But the story was still well written and brought greater depth to all of the characters.
Melanie Jackson writes a good story about this isolated area. The house is very intriguing and you wonder what is going to happen next.
Twelfth Night is the second of the Wendover House mystery series which takes place on a small island in the northeast. It picks up where the first book in the series, The Secret Staircase, ends and is a worthy sequel. Shortly after the holidays, Tess MacKay, who just inherited Wendover House from her great-grandfather, decides to host a party for a few of her new friends. While the stated purpose of the gathering is more or less a housewarming, Tess' real goal is to finally put the spirit of one of her ancestors to rest. It seems that the long suffering ghost had been wrongly accused of being a witch and put to death in a story known by all in the community. The party involves the participants each sharing ghost stories of their own and concluding with Tess recounting the story of Hannah, her ancestor, and comes to a satisfying conclusion while setting the stage for the next book in the series. All in all, a good read.
The story was interesting, easy to read, and fun
I find this series to be a good read on a snowy afternoon, but no where near as entertaining as her Chloe Boston or Butterscotch Jones series. Nothing really "happens" in this series. Tess just thinks a lot. I prefer a bit more action. And truthfully I haven't warmed up to the characters in this series as much as I have the others, especially the crew in McIntyres Gulch. I will likely continue to read these, but if you are a Butterscotch and Chloe fan don't expect the same quality.
So different. I enjoyed the directionality of her writing. All told as first person story.

I am so weary of the formula writing in cozy mysteries, this was a refreshing change. I read this one first and bought the first of the series when finished. I'll read it tonight and probably buy the third when I'm done.

I read the lower end reviews. Sad that people can't see outside their comfort zones. I think the stories are leading to something bigger.

Thanks for several hours of intense reading enjoyment.
This short story, novella, was written in a ghostly manner. Entirely Gothic feel even though most of the stories recounted were of modern times. Ms. Jackson is a worthy Author and if there is any complaint, it is that I could read hundreds of pages more...

Tess MacKay, heiress of a home on Little Goose Island off of Maine, has found her home comes with a ghost. Having promised to throw a party when she closed her life in Minnesota to take up full time residency on Little Goose, Tess decides to throw a 'Twelfth Night' party complete with period costumes and the guests are descendants, for the most part, of the ghosts family and ill-wishers. Can a confrontation settle the haunt once and for all?

This short story was filled to every last word with ghost stories and ends with even a more realistic ghost for Tess to lay to rest.

I can not say more or I will spoil it for you. I am sold upon this series. The third episode is only available, at this time, on ebooks so...guess who will be downloading soon.
